Raccoon Reproduction

Females reach sexual maturity after 1 year and males after 2 years.

Raccoons are polygamous. Breeding takes place between January and March. The gestation period is about 63 days. Raccoons usually have 4-5 babies (called kits) in a litter. A baby raccoon's eyes do not open until about 3 weeks.
