Raccoon InformationRaccoons (Procyon lotor) are omnivorous mammals found across most of North America. They are often found in urban areas and are considered pests because they can cause substantial damage. Raccoons are nocturnal animals. The raccoon is often recognized by its black mask around the eye area and its tail covered by white rings. Raccoon males are generally much larger than females. Raccoons have very dexterous hands, with 5 fingers on each hand. They can pick up any fruit like a human would. Raccoons are great climbers and have excellent hearing and night vision.
